I built a Strong business using one skill: writing.
No flashy ads. No endless social media strategies. No elaborate funnels or video editing.
Just writing.
It wasn’t easy. Think of it like tending a garden. Every day, I showed up, muddy and exhausted, pulling weeds, planting seeds, and learning from my mistakes. Some days, it felt like nothing grew. Other times, my words failed to connect with readers.
But when it finally clicked… everything changed.
- I earned $230K+ on Fiverr.
- Landed $10K+ copywriting clients.
- Enjoyed $sss per months on Medium.
- Sold products on Gumroad.
- Built an email list of thousands.
- Created a sustainable business I genuinely love.
So, how did I make people love my writing? I learned to write with charisma.
Here’s how you can do it too.
The 3 Elements of Writing Charisma
According to Fortune 500 charisma coach Olivia Fox Cabane, charisma boils down to three traits:
- Presence — Giving focused attention.
- Power — Demonstrating authority and confidence.
- Warmth — Making others feel liked and safe.
“When you meet a charismatic person, you feel like they have power and genuinely like you,” says Cabane.
So, how do these traits translate into writing?
1. Presence: Captivate with Focus
Presence in writing means showing up fully, delivering thoughtful, focused content your readers can’t ignore.
- Deep Work: Remove distractions while writing. Focus unlocks creativity and clarity you can’t achieve otherwise.
- Research: Knowledge is power. The better your research, the more value you can offer. Curate insights your audience won’t find elsewhere.
- Edit Ruthlessly: Editing is your secret weapon. Refine your words, make your message crystal clear, and add vivid metaphors or visuals to draw readers in.
Example: Notice how I compared writing to gardening at the start? That metaphor wasn’t random — it was crafted to grab your attention.
2. Power: Command Attention
Power in writing is about showing credibility and confidence without arrogance.
- Show Credibility: Share your wins, big or small, to prove you know your stuff. It doesn’t have to be earth-shattering — a relatable success story works wonders.
- Write with Confidence: Believe in what you’re saying. Confidence shows in your tone, word choice, and directness. Combat self-doubt before you write — stand tall, take deep breaths, or stretch.
- Choose the Right Words: Use words that evoke safety and satisfaction. Your language should inspire trust and authority.
3. Warmth: Connect Like a Friend
Warmth is where your writing builds trust, comfort, and genuine connection.
- Give Them What They Want: Frame your story around what your audience cares about. For instance, I didn’t just teach writing — I showed how writing helped me earn six figures, something you’re probably interested in too.
- Write Like You Talk: Be natural and conversational. Use contractions (you’re, not you are), expressions (whoa, oops, ouch), and short, punchy sentences. If you wouldn’t say it out loud, don’t write it.
- Speak to the Reader: Imagine you’re writing to one person, not a crowd. Use “you” more than “I.” Readers connect more deeply when it feels like you’re speaking directly to them.
Writing That Stands Out
Anyone can write. With tools like ChatGPT, the barrier is lower than ever.
But writing in a way that makes people trust you, like you, or buy from you? That’s still hard.
AI can churn out articles, but human connection — the charisma in your words — is something only you can bring.
So, if you want to stand out in this noisy digital world, commit to becoming one of the few who can write with presence, power, and warmth.
It’s not just about learning the craft. It’s about becoming a writer people can’t stop reading.
